Mother's Day
Mother's Day takes on a whole new meaning when your Mom is no longer with you. Mom's been gone just over 2 years and this will be my third Mother's Day without her. I was in church this morning with Auntie and the Minister spoke of how when we are young we take our parents for granted. So true. It isn't until we are older (and hopefully wiser) that we truly appreciate all they did for us and the sacrifices they made to raise us. That was my Mom. From the time I was 7 she raised me as a single parent and I can tell you she did not have it easy. But she never let on or complained even though now I wonder how she did it all.
This was my mom as a young girl with my grandmother. I never realized until I saw this photo how much I resemble my mother at that age. I had to look twice.
A friend shared this photo with me this week. I'd never seen it before. It was taken at the beach and no one remembers what event we were heading too because we were dressed up. My friend and her mom were on the other side.
Mom was always involved in community organizations and she was heading to some meeting somewhere. She looks so happy. I think it's one of my favourites.
I hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day. Even those who are Mother's to the furry 4 legged children

Wow! I thought that top picture was you and your mother as the young girl looked so much like you (or at least the one or two photos I have seen). Hope Abby snuggles up extra close today!
ReplyDeleteWonderful tribute to your mom. And I also thought that was you in the photo. Am sure your mom is watching over you and proud of your accomplishments.
ReplyDeleteSuch great pictures my mom has been gone for 8 mother's days and I still think of her most every day. Happy mother's day to you.

Love seeing the old photos. I too was surprised at how long ago your mom passed. Time is going by too quickly.
ReplyDeleteKim your so lucky you had a wonderful relationship. Some people never have that experience with a mom, extra hugs today cheri

ReplyDeleteI hope Abby was good to her mom - she's lucky to have you!
I thought that was you too. I love that picture of you and your Mom all dressed up. You were rocking that headband!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad when Mother's Day is past. I don't think I have ever stopped missing my own Mom. I hope you had a nice day.
I love old photos and those are so sweet of your Mom and you. She was a trim beauty! I'm glad you have good memories but sorry she's not here with you. I think I finally appreciated my parents after I was one for a few years. It's not easy and I'm grateful to my Mom and Dad and truly grateful we still have Mom. Dad's been gone 40yrs this year. Hard to believe how fast time has gone. I miss him every day. Take care and I'm sure Abby is happy to have you for her "fur ever" Mom!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful thoughts of your mom. I love to see the old pictures. My dad was a single parent with three little kids. I don't think I truly appreciated everything he did for us until I had my son. Dad is my hero.
