A blank page

Ahhh, the first few days of a new year are like a blank page in your book.   So what will 2017 bring?  What words will fill up your blank page?   I'm not going to pretend to be one of those people who make resolutions because we all now I'd break them all within a week.  However I would like to set a few "loose guidelines" for the future.   I'd like to be more financially stable this year.  The past 2 years I have spent a lot of money on setting up my little house.   I'm going to put the brakes on home improvement projects for the time being and try to get caught up.   I'd also like to be more organized at home.  I've already started over the holidays and got a good start downstairs.  However upstairs and in the garage, I need to organize and purge.   Lastly and probably the one that will make me the happiest, is I hope to create more in 2017.  I barely rug hooked at all last year.  Over the holidays I've been getting the urge to get back into it.   Today is the first day I had any energy.  That stupid cold knocked me out but last night I slept and coughed less.  I even got a little appetite back today.  Good thing too, because sadly vacation ends tonight.  Tomorrow is back to work after 16 days off.
No more pyjamas or sweatpants.  I'll have to find jewelry and "put on a face".  It's going to be so hard............

  1. I like your "loose guidelines". To be more organized...sigh. I don't know if it will happen in my lifetime. I have so much I could/should purge, but I am my mother's daughter and have a hard time parting with things.
I'm sure it will be hard to head back to work after 16 days off!
    Happy New Year :)

  2. I like the more creative part. I have missed my hooking inspiration. You know I might never have kept hooking if not for you. I think you are in a good place. I wish you didn't have to go back to that other life though. I hope you are recovered enough. Happy New Year!

  4. Good morning, Kim. Yep, I'll be "adulting" today, too. Sigh...my face is on and heading out to work. Another sigh...and all this attitude after only three days off!! LOL

  5. Dear Kim, I'm glad that you are finally starting to feel better. I got knocked down too just before Christmas and it took the life of of me. I'm still not back to 100% though.

Running a house takes a lot of money for things like taxes, insurance, electricity and heat, water, telephone, meals, repairs and maintenance. When you add renovation and furnishing it can really get costly. It takes years to get ahead. Don't get discouraged. You're doing great.
I hope Abbey is cheering you on.

I'm trying to purge my own stuff too but it's an awful slow process. Now I have to decide what to do with some of Nicole's possessions and there are more to come by boat from Scotland sometime this winter.

I hope work hasn't piled up too much while you were on vacations.
    Hugs,
    Julia

  7. I definitely need to purge in every room of my house. Was going well for a while and then stopped dead in my tracks. I have gathered some 'bits and bobs' to send Kelley for her mom so there goes 5 lbs out the door but more needs to leave.

  8. Glad you are feeling better! Just in time to go back to work! 😜 It was really hard to be motivated at work today.
Same goals for the new year - purge and take time to do more rug hooking.
    Happy New Year! 🎉
