I've got mail!

I had the loveliest surprise when I came home last night.  I saw the lid up on my mailbox and feared it was stuffed full of bills (as usual).  Imagine my surprise when I found this......
Someone left a bottle of wine!  No card, no note, just a happy surprise.  I found out later it was from a friend I had done a tiny favor for at work.  Sweet!   And it came in handy as "storm wine" as you guessed it.........another storm today.   Work was closed again so I had a nice relaxing day.  It's still snowing and blowing so no point in shovelling until tomorrow.   I made some tea biscuits for lunch.  Seemed like a good comfort food, hot from the oven and drizzled with molasses
And then I decided to try and fix the sewing machine again.  Last time I tried I broke the needle.  I managed to replace it and get that stupid walking foot attached again.
I love what the walking foot does, but this one is a piece of crap.  It's a Singer brand to fit the machine but it's made very poorly.  All you have to do is look at it sideways and the foot falls off.  So I had to go very slowly and continually check to be sure it wasn't going to fall off.   I managed to get about 1/3 quilted when I quit for the day.  I'll see how far I get tomorrow.   Did I mention I'm off again tomorrow?  And that Monday is a holiday.......extra long weekend for me!    I think that calls for some more storm wine 😛  🍷

  1. Seems like your storms come with a silver lining! There are worse things than being snowed in unable to go to work and have to drink wine, you know! ha ha Enjoy your sewing and wine time to the fullest! xo c

  2. Is there a store within walking distance or are you well stocked? I'd say you have more than a extra long weekend. Kind of a mini vacation.
Stay safe and warm, my friend ;)

  3. Seems you have VERY good friends who rely on you at work and respect you, thus your welcomed storm gift. Hope you have electricity thru Monday and happy sewing, hooking, drinking and eating!!!

  5. I get big storms, but nobody could put a bottle of wine in that little slit on my mailbox. I think it's time to replenish my wine rack....
Lucky girl to get time off to shovel your driveway.

  6. Your snow pics are so amazing. We've been having the opposite and frankly it scares me a bit. It's way too warm here for this time of year and the trees will bud out..the fruit ones especially, and I worry they will be frosted if a storm blows through. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. In the mean time, be careful shoveling and enjoy that day off tomorrow!

  7. We are still getting rain here in California...every day. I'm not a wine person, but I'm out of hot cocoa mix to put in my coffee...not quite an emergency, but definitely going to town for that! LOL

I have a Viking machine that gives me fits every once in a while. It has its own idea about "tension". And yes, by the end of my sewing session, I'm ready to throw it out the window. I've got a 1958 Featherweight...I think it's time for it to take the place of honor on my sewing table. Age over technology might be a better thing. LOL
